Use Registered Mail TM to prove your letter arrived safely. You'll get a copy of the signature for mail sent in Canada and a date-stamped official receipt for international mailings. Available at the post office.
What proof do I get with Registered Mail?
It depends on where you' re sending it:
Registered Mail Canada (domestic)
You can send letters, documents and small items like coins and jewellery by Registered Mail. Here's the proof you'll receive when it's delivered:
- Signature of the person who signed when it was delivered
- Date it was signed
- Mailing receipt
Registered Mail U.S. and international
You can send letters and documents by Registered Mail. Here's the proof you'll receive when it's delivered:
- Date-stamped official receipt
- Combine with Xpresspost TM – USA to get a signature for Registered Mail sent to the U.S.
If speed is a consideration, or you want to send an item that's not a letter or document use our parcel services.
How much does it cost and where can I buy it?
Registered Mail* is available for purchase at your local post office. Prices are additional to regular postage prices.

You can track mail in Canada using the unique tracking number. Get email notifications or use our mobile app. Xpresspost –USA can be combined with Registered Mail to include the track feature.
Delivery
Return to sender
Mail is returned to you if the person you're sending it to has moved or the address is incomplete or doesn't exist.
Forwarded mail
If you send Registered Mail to someone's old address, we'll forward the mail to the new address (if the person you're sending it to purchased our Mail Forwarding™ service).

Liability coverage up to $100
Letters sent in Canada have an automatic $100 coverage. Purchase additional liability for valuable items. Liability coverage up to $60 for U.S. and international Registered Mail. Terms and conditions apply.
